Vernon O. Liston, 84, of Chattanooga passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at his home.Born in Morgantown, W.Va., he graduated from the University of West Virginia where he began his education and love for Accounting and Tax Law.His career began in Washington D.C., assisting in the implementation of some current Laws and policies. Following his time there, he went to Atlanta and before settling in Chattanooga where he established himself in the business community as a successful CPA.He was a proud Korean War Combat Wounded Veteran and a licensed pilot. He built his life on Loyalty, Honesty, and Integrity while remaining Humble; always charitable and happily willing to help a loved one or friend. He was most of all a beloved husband, father and friend.Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Mary Liston, as well as two brothers and one sister.Survivors include his wife, Karen Liston; children, Todd Liston and wife Teresa, Tony Liston, Dan Baird and wife, Ashley, Carrie Shackleford and husband, Tim; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.A funeral service to commemorate his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Market officiating.Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. today, Aug. 23, 2013, at the funeral home.Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.Condolences and memories may be shared with the family by visiting Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services; 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343. 423-531-3975
