Virginia Strickland


ROSSVILLE Virginia "June Bug" Strickland, 83, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at a local hospital.She was a native and longtime resident of LaFayette and had lived the past 15 years in Rossville. Her passions in life were her family and grandchildren, quilting and sewing.She was preceded in death by her son, Clayton Strickland; son-in-law, Harold Tackett; five brothers; six sisters; one grandson; and great-great-grandbaby.Survivors include her daughter, Eva Scott, of Rossville; sons, Lonnie (Tommie) Strickland, of LaFayette, James (Tammy) Strickland, of Rossville, and David Strickland, of Rossville; sister, Betty Ruth "Bet" Raines, of Trenton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.Condolences may be sent to services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with the Rev. Tim Turnipseed and the Rev. Stanley Holt officiating.Interment will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends today from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
