Joseph Elrod

Joseph Porter Elrod, 79, of Chattanooga went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. He was born in Maryville, Tenn., to the late John William and Christine Elrod and has lived in the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas since 1958. He was of the Protestant faith and retired from American Alternator as the General Manager in 2011 after more than 10 years of service. He had served his country in the Army and the National Guard and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Elrod; second wife, Nancy Elrod; sisters, Rose Ann Baldridge and Francis White; and brother, William Prather. Survivors include his loving wife, Delores Elrod, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; children, Wilburn Robinson, of Norfolk, Va., Wendell Robinson and Tami Harrison, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., Tonya Shadrick, of Hixson, Tenn., Deborah Osgood, of Yulee, Fla., Connie Robinson, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Sam Robinson, of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Joyce Wells, of Ringgold, Ga., and Clenys Kofr, of Howe, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Robert Norman and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Hospice of Chattanooga, the Doctors and staff, with special thanks to two wonderful nurses, Adria and Angie for their care and compassion for Mr. Elrod.
