Clarence Howard


Sr.NEW HOPE Clarence Lavon Howard Sr., 72, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in a Chattanooga healthcare facility.The son of the late James Frank and Kate Doshel Blevins Howard, he was a railroad brakeman for Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad and Southern Railroad and lived in New Hope for most of his life.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrel Howard; daughter, Teresa Rowland; brother, Billy Howard and grandson, Trey Howard.He is survived by his children, Clarence L. Howard Jr. and wife, Mandy, of South Pittsburg, Jeannie Howard Gothard and husband, Lamar, of Kimball, Tenn., David Howard, of South Pittsburg and Chris Howard, of Marietta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Howard; sisters, Josie Lee Huckabee and Mildred Phillips ,all of South Pittsburg; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Brenda Kean, of Fort Payne, Ala.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. CST on Friday, Feb. 15, at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg with Brother Wilford McGill officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery.The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-9 p.m. CST Thursday at the funeral home.Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting
