Jack Parker


ROSSVILLE Jack L. Parker, 86, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at a local hospital.He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Cavalier and was the owner/operator of Fort Oglethorpe Cab until 1998 He enjoyed bird watching, listening to country busic, watching Western Movies and CNN. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and will missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; sister; and grandson, Rodney Short.Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gladys Parker; and two daughters, Terri Short (Bill), of Fort Oglethorpe and Cathy Parker (Tom Ford), of Ringgold; granddaughter, Angie Griffith; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Brecken Griffith.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.comGraveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 26, 2013, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with military honors and Solamar Hospice Chaplin Marv Eskew officiating.The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
