Charles E. Farrar, 88, formerly of Chattanooga and Nashville, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Norman, Okla.He was born in 1924 in Wartrace, Tenn., to John Isom and Annie Ruth Pyrdom Farrar. Chuck graduated from Central High School and after serving in the Navy during WWII, he graduated from the University of Chattanooga. While living in Chattanooga, Chuck was co-founder of the Unitarian Church. He was a member of CASDA, square dance caller for the Star Twirlers and other square dance clubs. In addition, he was one of the founders of Allemande Hall. Chuck had a great sense of humor, a wonderful artist, loved shooting pool, reading books and philosophizing on religions. After retiring from the city of Chattanooga, he and his wife, Wanda Bostick Farrar, moved to Nashville.Survivors include his daughters, Katy (Ken) Jacobsen, of Norman, Okla., and Kathy (Phil) Faircloth, of Wildwood, Ga.; stepdaughters, Judy (Bob) Whittle and Lynn Hancock, both of Nashville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Services will be at a later date.
