Charles Parson


Charles Christopher Parsons went home to meet his Lord and Savior in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.He was born March 14, 1927 in Crossville, Tenn.He has been a resident of the North Georgia area for 49 years. Charles wass preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Minnie Parsons; brother, Henry Parsons; sisters, Evelyn Bond, Louise Harris and Mildred Rietman.He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Turner Parsons, also of Crossville, Tenn.; brother, David Parsons of Crossville; sister, Ellois Linkous, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., son, Lane (Ronda) Parsons, Lookout Mountain, Ga.; daughters, Dina (Ken) Gibson and Debbie Dietz (Grant Cobb), Chattanooga; grandchildren, Heidi Dietz (Nathan Pursley), Barron (Julie) Dietz, Christopher (Amanda) Gibson, Matthew (Tanya) Gibson, Ilena Parsons, Jonathan Mejia, great-grandchildren, Avery Simmons, Nolen Dietz, Drew Dietz, Kieran Gibson, Eve Gibson; mother-in-law, Dorothy Warren; several nieces and nephews and so many, many extended family members that he and his wife Ruth have had a hand in raising and caring for. "GrandMa and Grandad" have been a blessing to so many special people other than their own children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has been a "Father" and "GrandFather" to many from his own children's childhood friends to his recent blessings, honorary grandchildren, Lanna, Webb and Logan.Charles served his country with honor during WWII and the Korean War. He came home to Crossville to work. One day while eating lunch in the local diner he met the love of his life, Ruth. Their marriage has truly been a "Love Story" that has inspired many. He retired from Texaco Corporation.The graveside service will be Friday, May 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ronnie Capes will perform the service. There will be no prior visitation.Arrangements are handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Chattanooga.
