Juanita June Burnum, 86, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.Born in the late 1920s, Juanita Burnum grew up in Geraldine, Ala., worked in the cotton fields with her 12 brothers and sisters. Juanita was an excellent homemaker who could do it all. She was active in the community and belonged to many organizations: the Lake Vista Garden Club (and was president for many years), PTA, the Lakeside Opti "Miss" Club, the ladies auxiliary for TRGDA (Tennessee Retailers Gasoline Dealers Association) and multiple church groups with Tyner United Methodist Church.Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Burnum; parents, William and Bertha Mooney.Juanita is survived by daughter, Beverly Bales Peacock and husband, Jim; granddaughter, Brandy Bales Rogers and husband, Dustin; great-grandchildren, Brody, Brayden, Brooklynn Rogers; stepgrandson, Travis Peacock.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Oct. 3, 2013, and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North ChapelService for Juanita will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
