FLINTSTONE Evelyn Gibbons Samsel, 92, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at her residence.She was a lifelong resident of the Flintstone/High Point communities, was retired from Heritage Quilts with more than 20 years of service, and was a member of Parkway Baptist Temple in Ft. Oglethorpe. Mrs. Samsel's passions in life were her family, cooking, church family, and flowers. She was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Samsel; parents, Howard and Mary Jane Gibbons; daughter and son-in-law, Burlene and J.D. Clayton.Survivors include her children, Brenda (Leon) Biddy, Fort Oglethorpe, Sandra (Robert) Brown, Folkston, Ga., Lynda (Bill) Day, Rossville, and Kirk Samsel, Flintstone; sisters, Gertrude Adkinson, Ocala, Fla., and Verneena Gibbons, Rossville; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Calvin Bryan and his staff for their love, care, and kindness.Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Dr. David Sampson officiating.
