Frank White Smith, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in a local healthcare facility. A native Chattanoogan, Frank graduated from City High School, the University of Chattanooga and was a WWII Naval veteran. He managed several local concerns and retired as the executive director of the Mechanical Contractor's Association. He was an active member and deacon of the Rivermont Presbyterian Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Barry Washington Smith and Lola Graham Dietz; his first wife and mother of his children, Carolyn Bivens Smith; his son, Richard Parker Smith; grandson, George Thomas Smith; brother, Charles Berry Smith; and sister, Helen Lorrie Toliver.Frank is survived by his children, Chuck (Tammy) Smith, Greg (Julia) Smith and Cydney (Neal) Davis and their children. He is also survived by his wife, Mary Jo Costello Smith, her four children and their large extended family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Habitat For Humanity of Greater Chattanooga, 1201 East Main Street Chattanooga, TN 37408. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 3, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Clay Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
