George Blair, Jr.George W. Blair, Jr., 66 of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. He resided at Consulate healthcare for the last 11 months, where he received excellent care from the staff. Mr. Blair, Jr. completed a dual Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering and Health Physics at Texas A&M University. He also worked on a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M, but entered into the industry before he completed his doctorate. He worked professionally as a nuclear engineer at Bechtel and Stone and Webster Engineering firms in Houston, Texas. Mr. Blair, Jr. served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and with the Berlin Brigade in West Berlin, Germany. He later served in the Texas National Guard and completed 82nd Airborne and Ranger training at Fort Benning, Ga.He always loved his children and was very proud of their accomplishments, often being available for council and support during his final years. He was a loyal Aggie, a legend in his own time, and will be remembered lovingly and missed dearly!He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Kaj Blair; son, George W. Blair, III; sister, Donna S. Blair; and his former spouse, Eugenia Anne Yielding.A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Visit to share words of comfort to the family.There will be no visitation at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
