Johnny Thompson

Johnny Thompson Johnny Mack Thompson, 78, of Chattanooga, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at his residence. He graduated from Rossville High School and served in the U.S. Army where he played the clarinet and saxophone in the military band, he was an accomplished musician. Upon his discharge from the military he played in several local bands. Music was his passion in life. He worked in the textile industry for most of his years and recently at Dicks Sporting Goods in the golf department. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Theora Bond Thompson; brother, Charles Thompson. Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Peggy Thompson; son, Chris Meeks; daughter, Jennifer Meeks. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
