Hartfred Hulgin, 93, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014. He was a native of Valley Head, Ala., and had lived the past 15 years in the North Georgia area where he was a member of the South Rossville Baptist Church. He retired in the mid 1980s from Combustion Engineering with 30 years of service and he was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II receiving several ribbons and medals. His passions in life were his wife, family, church, gardening, and raising cattle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hulgin; and eight brothers and sisters, Laura, Pearl, Preston, John, Jesse Belle, Luther, Cleo and Callie. Survivors include two children, Larry (Lynn) Hulgin, of Rossville, and Debbie (Art) Collins, of the Cooper Heights Community; four grandchildren, Angela (Danny), Erick, Jennifer and Malissa (Dirk); seven great-grandchildren, Moriah, Ashley, Kristen, Maddie, Daniel, Eli and Emma; two great-great-grandchildren, Braylon and Noah; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
