Glenn Johnson Jr.
Glenn Alexander Johnson Jr., 75, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014. He was born Jan. 6, 1939 in Chattanooga, and retired to Dunlap, Tenn. He was a graduate of Baylor School, a member of the Luke Worsham Wrestling Team and the legendary Humpy Heywood Football Team. He attended the University of Chattanooga on a football scholarship. He retired as a claim agent for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a "Life Loyal Sig" (Sigma Chi Fraternity). Life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp Commander TN division staff member, was awarded the Commander in Chiefs National Award. He also participated in Civil War reenactments where he was a Confederate Captain in Jackson's Artillery with his own cannon. He belonged to The Sons of the American Revolution, National Rifleman's Association, and the Chattanooga Society of Model Engineers-Eagle Point Railroad where he was awarded the Eagle award and owned a Steam Engine. As a lifelong Methodist he was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Dunlap. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret True Johnson; children, Margaret (Randy) McNeill, of Montgomery, Ala., Cindy (Claude) Hughes, G. Alexander (Remona) Johnson, of Dunlap, Tenn.; six grandchildren, James and Margaret Anne McNeill, Jonathan and Catherine Hughes, Jenni Blevins and Elizabeth Johnson; sister, Mary Anne Johnson (Robert) Rountree, Las Cruses, N.M.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. CST Sunday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Johnson-Lewis Cemetery.
