5- NFC West preview: The last 8 SB winners either didn't make the playoffs or lost in the first round. Seattle will follow this trend. Too hard to repeat in sports. Motivation, lack of focus, injuries all play a huge part. Not to mention the 'ohsoclose' factor that is the NFL. In their case a tipped pass gets Intercepted.Everything has to go right. They should get 9-10 wins but SF should as well. St L is way overrated (7-9) Cards (6-10). Last point: Seattle became a tough place to play when the team became good. They had 10plus wins 3 times in the last 8 seasons 2 of which were 2012 and 2013. Home field matters a great deal more in college not so much in the pros. We've seen 3 wild card SB winners in the last 8 years win 3 road games to do it.

Mailbag: Is there something in the CBA that prevented Goodell from taking a first round pick or two from the Colts? That would seem more equitable and send a much stronger msg.

5-Mailbag: How many seasons go by before Malzahn is on an NFL sideline? Bradshaw is 2 or 3 as far as big game winners, overall top 5 for sure. Rushmore: Brown Dickerson OJ Sanders

5- Is this a big 'money' game for UTC? If so how does is equate to the Tenn or Ala payouts? Is it really worth whatever the payout after travel and lodging to get bbq'd on the road?

One role- Phoebe Cates. (Only one needed)

5- UTC is going to have their hands full Thursday. We'll see how good their defensive front is. CMU returns a 1,500 yd runner and added a transfer runner from Michigan plus a off. line that returns all starters. Not sure who Jacob is throwing to but he doesn't throw much anyway (1,700 yds). Prediction: GA v AU in SEC championship. Bama has at least 2 losses. Kiffin ends up in Dallas TBC..

5- When I've watched practice rounds or been at a tour range it's almost comical the way the swing gurus hover over their players every move. I agree Tiger doesn't need a coach at this point. Tournament golf requires experience and confidence, he has both. Get healthy lay off the weights and work like crazy on his putting stroke. The hottest putters always win at every level.

Mailbag:Will we see a 6,000 yd passing season with the new NFL rules this season.

(Prediction) Conner Shaw gets cut by the Browns and they keep Grossman. No way they go with 2 rookies and Hoyer.

Stew- I think we're all indifferent to the whole violence thing by now. Brandon Marshall did the same thing bash/deny/marriage/move on. Greg Oden had a similar charge last week and had little coverage. If not for the video Rice would never have been suspended, maybe fined. The video sparked the outrage not the 'crime'. It's just where we are.

5-So Johnny F U football looks more and more like Ryan Leaf. Not ready, Immature. The salute is something you do when you don't have anything else to say. Brian Cox, Jake Plummer, even Aaron Rogers did it after a playoff game in Philly. No big deal, these aren't choir boys. That being said the Browns from the top down are still a train wreck. It's nice having Caliendo and MNF back though.

5- Montana/Rice. Winner:ALS awareness from ice bucket challenges. Loser: ALS-still sux. Would it shock anyone if the braves go 2-8 or 1-9 for the next ten? No. Streaking at ball games..man I just don't get it.
