Good on the high school girl's teams. I think this event is great! I would love to hear more info on how the scholarship fund has helped in the past directly from this event. I hope there will be a follow-up story on how this year's event has impacted/helped someone.

SM and SM's attorney seem to be taking liberties with the word 'territory' a la Pres. Clinton. "It depends on what your definition of 'is' is." Oy vey. Stick a fork in this already...

Toby, check out today's '5 at 10' in the Sports section. They address some of your timing questions.

You chose to become a member of TSSAA, no one forces you. In becoming a member you agree to abide by the rules and the punishments - all clearly laid out in the handbook. The Principal is the ultimate responsible party. Direct frustration at the people who dropped the ball - not the ones who enforce the rules when they're broken.

Um, so if the player participated in Spring 2011 football practice at LFO, then he's automatically ineligible to have played this past Fall regardless of the residency issue - is that correct? Then it's a moot point it seems. Would he be eligible to play other sports at SM? I'm confused.

They seem(?) to have the right to appeal, and if that's what they want to do, then yah - go for it. But this has gotten to be beyond obnoxious. Admit the mistake - "clerical" or whatever - take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again and move on! You're accountable and responsible for your actions. If other schools are making the same "clerical error," then absolutely, they should be held accountable as well. And unless you have actual facts, and can further the conversation, just stop. Half-truths, lies, gossip, hearsay is so annoying. The truth ALWAYS comes out in the end.

OK - I'm sticking to the local and staying out of this Obama/anti-Obama stuff for now... I'm sure Weston has a more redeeming quality than being a Wamp, however, I don't care if he's young or old -- he has to do a little more for me to find him worthy of Congress. In my eyes, he has no track record. You may think differently, that's fine. I like my candidates with a little more real-world life experience. I think he'd be a good asset elsewhere than Congress to be honest.

I understand there is probably quite a bit of research that justified this hourly expense and strategy that exceeded $100K, however, please. There are many competent Chatt firms or TN firms that could have competently handled this renaming project. What a joke. Chattanooga "has no jobs."
