With the 24-hour news cycle, it is easy to forget that this was a deal the Republicons agreed to.

".......In fact, it virtually guarantees a revenue increase by the end of 2012. And Boehner knows it.

Here’s how it works: Part of the deficit reduction estimates used to sell this deal to the Republicans count on Congressional Budget Office estimates. Those estimates set a baseline. All reductions have to come from that baseline and if any additional spending is to be made, offsetting cuts must also be enacted.

Here’s where it gets interesting. The CBO baseline already assumes that the Bush Era tax cuts will expire at the end of 2012. The spending levels for 2013 include the additional revenue from those cuts expiring. If Republicans want to extend those tax cuts (which are considered spending), they will have to make cuts to the budget to offset every penny. They won’t have the political control needed to do that before the end of 2012, even if the President loses his office and they take control of the Senate, as the cuts expire in 2012, and a new administration and Congress would not be seated until January 2013.

So, unless Republicans want to try to pass an extension along with offsetting cuts during an election year, those cuts will expire. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has already said he will not allow the issue to come to a vote, and the President has vowed he will veto it. So if Republicans want to extend those cuts, they will have to come up with $4T in spending cuts to offset the tax cuts. To make it more difficult still, the deal makes it clear that those cuts must come in a 50/50 ratio between defense and non-defense spending, with Social Security, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, civilian and military retirement off the table. Medicare cuts would only come from the provider side, not the individual."

You can call this rope-a-dope or 18-dimentional chess. Either way, the deal was made and now the Republicons do not wish to honor it. Surprise surprise!

Another conclusion we could draw is that city, county, state, and federal funds will be used to fight it because it is unconstitutional. This just furthers the release of money which is so badly needed to keep these entities afloat. Bankrupt the governments, and move in. I think you will find these jokers do not even know they are being used to divide and conquor. They just see that it is wrapped in a flag and on top of the bible.

Jack_Dennis said... So j.o.w.: You APPROVE of the love-fest of BHO by the press? It's a simple question. And don't be so insulting. I'm sympathetic to the fact that you have been duped.

Jack, you are amusing....and, well, just amusing. Personally I think you are a simpleton jerk, but posting wise, just amusing. I don't watch network news so I have no idea what love-fest to which you are referring. But I have seen a love fest start coming from the Republicans. Wonder what is up?

Jack_Dennis said... j.o.w.: Research, huh? Partisan websites? Romney/Ryan "truly rotten people"? Pretty quick to demonize successful, hard working guys. People like you scare the isht outta me.

That goes right in line with the fear your side has been spewing. Since when is "democratic" a partison word. I am fairly sure democratic republic is what we have in this country. Maybe you have something else in mind. If that is the case, then be afraid....be very afraid.

And just in case you haven't learned yet, networks will lie to you. Democratic underground is for all and is the news from the people, but you go ahead and think whatevery your little fearful brain wants to do.

delmar said... Good post JustOneWoman. Here's an article you might like.

Thanks Delmar. Good article. A liar thinks everyone lies. And a salesman thinks everything is for sale. A moocher thinks everyone mooches. Rmoney is one of the biggest liar moochers of tax payer funds for his own profit.

He has already been charged with racketeering/profiteering, so the future will be interesting. I guess he will blame the American people for his being caught on these too!

(11-1-12)"The Presidential candidate has just learned that tomorrow afternoon he will be charged with violating the federal Ethics in Government law by improperly concealing his multi-million dollar windfall from the auto industry bail-out."

"At a press conference in Toledo, Bob King, President of the United Automobile Workers, will announce that his union and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) have filed a formal complaint with the US Office of Government Ethics in Washington stating that Gov. Romney improperly hid a profit of $15.3 million to $115.0 million in Ann Romney's so-called "blind" trust." http://www.nationofchange.org/uaw-files-charges-against-romney-his-auto-bail-out-profiteering-1351783724

"Dear Mitt and Paul,

I wanted to clear something up for you.

I have seen the debate about what went wrong, and why you lost this election. As a voter I want you to know that my voting against you had nothing to do with the fact that you are both rotten people.

It was not because of your crazy religions.

It had nothing to do with Eastwood’s empty chair, or the hurricane, or the liberal media telling me bad things about Bain. ........... I voted for a man who brought my childhood friends home from war that they could kiss their wives and tuck their kids in at night. I voted for a guy who loves New Jersey more than he dislikes Chris Christie. I voted for the guy who looked in the mirrors of his daughter’s eyes, questioned himself, and changed his mind about marriage equality. I voted for the guy who called Sandra Fluke and told her that her parents should be proud. I voted for the guy who honors the women in his life by ensuring them trust to make their own reproductive and health choices and opportunity to work through glass ceilings with equal pay. I voted for the guy who signed the stimulus that paid for the hearing aids that allowed me to hear my children clearly. I voted for the guy who gave my sister the ability to buy health insurance in spite of pre existing conditions. I voted for the guy who picked Joe Biden for a VP. Joe’s love for his country, his willingness to give of himself, his smarts and experience are top notch. I voted for the guy who was smart enough to put a ring on Michelle Obama’s finger.

Most importantly, I voted for the guy who will continue to place America and what is right for her first." http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021820938

You guys simply have to broaden your news sources if you want to stay relevant with this country! Listen to faux liars all you want, but then don't complain when you don't know your azz from a hole in the ground, and can't understand what the American people are telling you.

TinaFrench said... Alprova writes, "But she did tarnish the record of an otherwise decent man". You're actually blaming the woman for this? He's a weak-willed little man. He could have simply said NO. I guess this is why men feel the need to control women, because you can't control yourselves. Get your burkas ready women, they're just around the corner.

Alprova, You stepped in it. Tina is right, (except the burkas - I refuse). It is not like you to say this Al. I thought you were about personal responcibility.

joneses said... dao,

Absolutely I will lay off the people that supported Hussein Obama first. I have held out as long as I can to keep all these people employed hoping some policies Hussein Obama put in place would be reversed if he was removed from the White House. Hussein Obama's policies are not good for my business so why would i want someone to work here that supports something that is not good for my business? It makes perfect business sense. It is apparent you have never run a business. It is my choice and I am proud of it and my business will continue for another year or two when or sell or close it when it does not provide the life style for me I am accustomed. I can retire and live off all I have earned and have the same life style I have now as running this business gets less satisfying everyday. I produce something you have not the ability to operate as it is takes much more intelligence to operate than an Etch and Sketch. By the way "Earned" is a word you probably do not understand the meaning of.

If indeed he is a business owner, I might guess doctor. Although I don't see the intelligence. But doctors are the ones leading this argument. They are laying off employees to get their business down to under 50 so they do not have to pay the penalties of the affordable care act, which includes the employer being fined when an underpaid full time employee qualifies for public assistance. I will not name names, but it is more than one doctor's office doing this. Greedy doctors want their employees to live in poverty. They cry when the government doesn't pay their normal rate for services. Yeah, they cry all the way to one of their vacation homes in the Caymans. So it is not like they couldn't pay better. They very well could. They choose not to. And now, they are going to be held accountable. They will go to part time employees and their business will fail. Capitalism will take care of that right quick.
