I would have included Peyton amongst the losers. Three turnovers including a brain cramp on the last possession that led to the winning FG were his undoing. He may go down as the greatest regular season quarterback of all time but a nine and eleven record (including 8 first round losses) play-off record keeps him from being the greatest ever.
The Lombardi trophy, simple design, good size, instantly recognizable might warrant the Stanley Cup spot. The Stanley Cup is awesome because of the names and the fact that some the players take it to their hometowns for a while. What if Reggie White had brought the Lombardi back to Chatty. The green jacket, Heisman, and Olympic Medal for anything other than synchronized swimming or curling are great picks.
Good stuff today -- favorite Xmas song is I'll Be Home for Christmas. I saw another Xmas movie over the weekend that nobody mentioned last week - Trading Places. Aykroyd dressed as a drunk Santa with the white leather shoes, top shelf comedy.
Three more movies to add to the list: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles; Elf; and Bad Santa. The last one is a little out there. Another movie to fill in the bracket is the Muppets, A Christmas Carol.
The Clay Travis piece is excellent, great line that cannot be used here, but will be used. Back when all this started I commented that I thought Al Golden would be the next coach. He has to be a better option than "the hat part deux". It looks like another lost year of recruiting on Rocky Top.
Best name -- Macon Whoopee ECHL, Milwaukee Brewers (beer is always good
Worse name -- Chicago Cubs, off spring of the football team?
Three to change -- KC Royals to the Serfs, nothing royal about them. Indiana Pacers, get the race reference, just pace yourself? Anaheim Ducks -- ducks take to ice how exactly? I know the Disney ties but that was a while ago.
I think Title IX was best exemplified by Brandi Chastain's winning PK in the women's world cup. Title IX is why the US women dominate so many team sports. I also think this was the first time a women's team had such a big, undivided stage. U-S-A U-S-A.
Romeo did a great job in a bad situation. You can question his X's & O's ability, but you cannot question his heart and how much he cares about his players. Some coaches look at players as interchangable parts, some like sons. Also, did you catch the post game speech by Brady Quinn? -- awesome, dude nailed it.
The one sports item I would overpay for would be Joe Namath's Super Bowl III jersey. BTW - are Rocky movies and Super Bowls the only reason americans know any roman numerals at all?
Southern Miss fired Ellllllllllllis (12 L's see what we did there)Johnson after one season. They had to pay him 2.8 million to never win a game - we heard he lost the spring game also. Somehow Dooley seems like a bargain -- not.
A nominee for Mt. Rushmore -- Ted Danson, Sam Malone on Cheers and now as D.B. Russell on CSI. Never thought much of him as an actor until the CSI part, but do now. Spy hit the other ones I was thinking of especially Harry Morgan. Can Newhart be considered since the whole inn keeper gig was a dream?

5-at-10: Award, award everywhere and not a flop to think
