This is not exactly ground-breaking legislation here. Of the 48 states that allow citizens to carry firearms, 44 of them refrain from criminalizing carry in places of worship. I've seen so many hysterically vitriolic responses to this in the last day or two, such as "There are other ways to make sure that no one gets your favorite pew, snake or bottle of arsenic." - from Huffington Post. Instead of asking 'why do we really need guns in church?', a better question really is 'who would want to live under a government that would be so presumptuous as to forbid a private entity on their own property from having the security they desire, if they so choose?' That's the same to me as DC and Chicago telling their residents that they cannot keep arms for protection.

Those of you against carry in churches should answer this question; If my place of worship has a credible threat and wants me as a LICENSED firearm carrier to attend services armed as an extra layer of security, do I deserve to go to jail for doing so? It's what I would risk in Georgia and only 3 other states right now.
