Once there was no such thing as gender specific restrooms. Then during the mid-eighteenth century a Frenchman dreamed up separate bathrooms for men and women as a dinner party joke. What started out as a lark for drunk revelers has become proper decorum.
These days, Trans folk like me can find ourselves in legal trouble because of that bit of drunken humor. Personally, I don't find the matter the least bit funny. There are far to many narrow minded, under educated knuckle draggers looking for a chance to pound on anyone they disapprove of. We Trans folk are seriously misunderstood; That makes us targets.
Early last year, The American Medical Association released the results of several peer reviewed studies. The summary of those studies was made into a video. The video was made by the AMA for teaching Doctors, so the language can be a bit hard to follow some of the time.
