Why do you have pets if you can't afford to keep them?? I realize that people hit hard times sometime, but feeding a dog isn't going to make or break you either way regardless of how bad off you are.

I own three dogs. I buy my food at Costco and it costs maybe $22 every two weeks to feed ALL of them. I'm sorry - I'd count sofa change or sell some stuff on Ebay before I'd dump my pets at a shelter saying I can't afford to feed them.

Stop picking up pets because the kids want them if you're in a position where a few dollars for dog food is going to supposedly make you homeless if you lose your job. They're living things people, not sacks of potatoes.
