Here's another example of how a big company can control what is done in Chattanooga. I don't think this is the way to go. If Unum wants to have a big foot print, then let them buy the land next to their building to build the parking lot they have across the street, tear that parking lot down and make it the "park" that they want with an underground tunnel for their employees.

This needs to go one step further and to have it be allowed to go towards the down payment process for the home.

It seems to me that the council members who are named in this article are ones who believe that we should have this "manditory assigning" of contracts based on being a minority rather than have them based on whether or not they can do the job. If a minority business wants to get some of the contracts, then bid on them and if your qualified and are the cheapest then you will get the job. I thought we were done with the "affirmative action" days. I think those council members should stay out of trying to run someone else's business.

And where is it in the "news media" are we suppose to be looking for this information. Why not put a sign up on the street stating what is going on ??? They do it elsewhere

It seems to me that the reason for the others to object is that there is now more competition. Isn't that what we want ?? Choices ??

Why would they want to show something like this when everyone is working. This showing should be on a weekend so that everyone has the chance to come and see the future. Typical officials that only think of themselves.

I find this statement to be the most idiotic group of words ever to come out of a persons mouth.

"The increased payroll seems to have led to the shortfall, Mr. Brezina said, and “that’s why you’ve seen 56 people losing their positions.”

How can $650,000.00 increase lead to a $4.5 million budget shortfall. It was the lack of money management that led to this shortfall. Everything is increasing today including salaries. Bonuses are the correct method to control the rise in salaries because they are not always available.

On Chattanooga Housing Authority payroll rises $645,000 in one year
