A. Sheldon Gelburd, really sums it up entirely. Will the meek followers listen? I doubt it. They'll continue to go along with blaming the poor for all societal ills, not realizing they're the intended targets.

I believe your intentions are well defined, Mr. Cook. However, I'm just curious. When will you and the local media give equal time to the story of the youth who seemingly had it all? You know the type. The one who came from a prominent and traditional two parent home, was home schooled, private school, had a Christian upbringing but died from a drug overdose after years of abusing drugs while living in their parents basement and with their parents knowledge of abuse? Without balance and truth, you unintentionally fall prey to the same stereotype and racial profiling in the minds of so many others.

I'm not a Littlefield supporter, but I don't see any racism in all this. Just common sense. If you don't appreciate and take care of what you have you're bound to lose it. When people stop acting like they need the overseer watching over them at all times to make them behave, and take better care of what you have, it won't be so easy for others to take it away from you.

It's only a matter of time before the defense attorney for some gangsta type, serial killer or serial rapist who kills their victims after brutally raping them use this Stand Your Ground law as a defense.

I can hear it now: Defense lawyer to client: sir, did you brutally rape and then kill victim_. Client: Yes, sirI did in fact commit what you've just described, sir. Defense Attorney, Then why are you now claiming self defense and using the SYG law?_** Client: "Sir, I did rapevictim, but I never intended to brutally kill her. Attorney: Can you explain, sir, then why you did in fact killvictim when you now claim you only intended to rape victim? Client: *Sir, she resisted me. We struggled, I feared for my life. For a brief mometn she got the best of me, and it was then I decided that one of us was going to die, and it wasn't going to be me."_ Client: If victim had just bent over and took it like a good sport, and had not fought back victim would be alive today. It's all _victim's fought that victim died such a violent and hideous death, sir.

Jury weeps, but shows sympathy for the accused, the prosecution notice and becomes nervous. Another Casey Anthony slam dunk? Accused walks.

The End

Rickaroo I'm with you on leaving the country. I've been updating and renewing my passport information in preparation. Let the gun nuts have it and shoot it out with one another. That's the most likely scenario and the only positive outcome of all of this SYG stuff. The gun nuts will snuff out one another, and when the dust settle real sane and civilzed Americans can return and live in peace.

@wethepeople. The county raised property taxes long before the city. Then they, the county, went out a purchased spanky brand new furniture, thanks to yours and my property tax dollars. Where was the outrage then? In fact, the county had raised property taxes several times prior to the city doing the same, and has raised them again since. Again, where's the outrage?

It would be interesting if the feds were brought in to take a closer look at those signatures gathered on those recal petitions.

I agree with you EaTn. Also, it should be noted that one of the largest government unions in the U.S. is the union of federal prison guards.

NEW YORK CITY combated crime and gangs with more police, decreasing both significantly. Why can't we?

Dear Mr./Ms Ranter. New York City is also having to pay out millions and millions in lawsuits. Because the police there have gotten it all wrong more often than they've gotten it right.

WELL, JESS, we'll just be politically right about it. How about, open seasoned a certain segment of Chattanga's population? Does that sound better?

Anywho, who WHO. I don't fear the criminals or even the alleged gang bangers as much as I'm concerned we're Chattanoogans are being held hostage everytime somebodys want a pay raise or have their toys car privileges taken away. Please give them their pay raise and their toys back. Please! Please! Please! So Chattanoogans can stop hiding under their coffe tables in fear.

This decision is actually no better than the powers who came together to shutdown Mosaic/Club Fathom and run Tim Reid off. The haters that hate, and racists that are bigots will just no longer be visible to the eye. I can't say that's a good thing, as they'll still hate, and if they have any power and influence at all, they'll use that power and influence against the others they hate. I know it doesn' look good for Chattanooga, trying to promote itself as a tourist attraction, that so much racial hatred and bigotry remains in 21ST century America, but I am also sure TFP decision won't cure the disease either. The hate, intolerance, bigotry will still be there, it will just no longer be in the open for the nation and world to see.

Although, I'm sure other derogatory, inflammatory, and racists commenter have been made on other storyies, I think the this decision seems to have been made based on the most recent story about the Mosaic Church/Club Fathom incident. The Mosaic/Club Fathom being the icing on the cake. I've found it odd that in most all these disturbances where there's a club or clubs involved that primarily minorities heavily patronize the same officers are always at the scene, and where some good citizens in chattanooga have made multiple complaints. One of the officers in this recent downtown situation was also an officer who appeared efore the Beer Board to complain about another club on Brainerd Rd back in in 2009 in an effort to get that club closed down. Good Brainerd citizens had begun a drive, with the police in that area, to have clubs that primarily catered to Chattanooga's minority population shut down too. coincidence? Looks like it.
