The play-ins are lame to begin with, but can someone explain why there were two 11 seeds in a play-in game? Makes no sense. If they are good enough to be an 11 seed let them in. I'm guessing that was a predetermined criteria for these two conferences. Stupid is as stupid does as Mama always said...
30 for 30 on the '83 NC State team and Jimmy V. was outstanding. Thurl Bailey talked about the fact that in the two years prior they didn't make the Big Dance and then lost in the first round the next year. For those who may have forgotten it was Chattanooga that beat what was essentially that same NC State team in 1982 in the first round of the tourney.
2 and 3 star players (for whatever stars are worth) seem to turn out to be better players and less problems than the 4 & 5'ers, IMO.

Must agree with Todd962 on the Clowney hit. We were in a room of about 20 couples and even the ladies in the room went "oh snap' on "the hit". That hit is worthy of it's own catch phrase being added to the lexicon, such as "I'm going to go all Clowney on you!" or "He just got Clowneyed!" Granted it may not get to the same level as "Munsoned" but hey, it is worthy....
Hard to edge out any of the ones on the St. Nippy side of the bracket. One that hasn't been mentioned is "Trapped in Paradise". Carvey and Lovitiz make this one worth watching and can even overcome Nick "I'll make any movie you want me to I need the money" Cage.
Butch will be just fine, Can't spell Butch without UT. Unfortunately, you can't spell another infamous recent UT incident without the letters in Butch. But as you say this is a family column and we won't go there....
Conservative, check your sources. Alexis de Tocqueville never said it. Of course, like any many "feel good" quotes it always helps to try to attribute them to someone who has or had some standing. This is from an op-ed piece from 1951 from an Oklahoma newspaper under the by-line of an Elmer Peterson. Not the first time I've seen this quote attributed incorrectly. Don't think Elmer carries as much weight as Alexis de Tocqueville.
Had a chance to watch the Moc's highlights. What they showed on offense is what we've been waiting for all year. Defense looked really angry as well. Nice game.
Have to add "Easy Rider" to the soundtracks for 2 reasons. First, it was really the first soundtrack to feature real music not contrived simply for the movie (think any Elvis movie. "Viva Las Vegas" anyone?), and second one of the songs was "Born to Be Wild". I mean, it's an ultimate guy rock and roll song. Smoke and lightning, heavy metal thunder. Got to be on there.
