The fact that anyone can so cavilarily say that this is "no big deal" completely sickens me. Sure, on the whole this won't affect most Americans as much more than an inconvience, but for the federal employees this will affect, it is VERY BIG DEAL!!! My husband is a full time National Guard technician, which though he wears his uniform to work everyday is actually a federal job. We have recieved emails saying that this could cause us to go with pay for 22-30 days! Add to that the time it will take to recieve a paycheck if he does get back to work after that time frame, we could be looking at close to 2 months before we see a paycheck!!! We have been playing catch up as it is, having just had to sink our savings into putting a new engine into one of our vechicles and now somehow we and our 3 children are supposed to suddenly survive almost 2 months without pay??? Oh and we've been told there will be no backpay... so what we do fall behind on, we will be trying to catch up while trying to pay current bills! How does this sound like no big deal??? This sounds like people who are going to have utilities get cut off, people getting evicted for not paying rent, etc! Cause let's all keep in mind, that leave without pay does not qualify you to recieve unemployment benefits!!! My husband is a two time Iraq veteran, I feel so betrayed by our government that this is the thanks he gets for risking his life to go to Iraq and do what they asked of him!!!
