@ jimcarwest-

“The disabled person is to be pitied because he has a condition that cannot change”

Why are they to be pitied? The disabled people I know do not want my pity. They want understanding and dignity. I give them both.

“The same cannot be said about a gay person; he chooses his "condition."

How do you know this? Was there a scientific study conducted that produced overwhelming results that concluded that this statement is true? Can you please provide evidence of this study? You make that statement as if it is fact. I’m sure you believe this statement is true regardless of any evidence to support your claim. Why is that? What evidence has been provided to you that allows you to believe that statement is fact? You will not find any evidence of your claim because there isn’t any evidence to support it. I am genuinely asking you this question. How do you know this? Some humans are attracted to the same sex, others are attracted to the opposite sex. Either you are, or you aren’t.

“We pity a gay person like we might pity an addicted person -- as one who could change and who ought to change, but as one who refuses to change.”

Who is we? Do you know anything about addiction? The homosexual people I know do not want my pity. They want understanding and dignity. I give them both.

Thanks for speaking up and letting your very sane, rational voice be heard on the "My heroes..." article. I like your style, man!

@ tnvolssuckbad- They are heros, in this journalist’s opinion because these kids are taking a stand, sharing their stories with others in order to try to change things. School is a horrible place for them because of bullying. But they still maintain their dignity because they are not ashamed of who they are. Didn’t you read the article?

“If you're fat, then eat less and try putting the remote control down.”

That’s your solution to the obesity epidemic we have in America? That’s all you got? Children as well as adults are obese for many different reasons. There are social, economical, environmental and biological factors at work here. Most of America is obese. And even if it were as simple as putting down the remote, that doesn’t give anyone else the right to bully someone else if they don’t.

“Ever been to the movies and seen a young teenage couple making out and have fond memories of your youth? Now picture looking back and seeing 2 boys making out in a public theater…”

Yeah, I just pictured that. I just pictured living in reality, the world as it presently exists. It wasn’t gross. Is that how you remember your youth? What are you doing sitting in the back row of a movie theater watching teenagers make out? That in itself is pretty gross. How do you play “grabsie”? Is it fun?

“That's all we need is some other "Alliance" to bring to light exactly how wrong homosexuality is.”

Your confused. This is an alliance (why did you put the word in parenthesis?) to bring to light exactly how accepted homosexuality is. It’s natural. It exists in nature among other species as well.

“it's an abomination!”

You mean like Leviticus 11:9-12 ? The abdominal snowman?

@ Chattanoogatennesseeusa – I suppose you advocate bullying and violence toward anyone who doesn’t fit your subjective definition of what normal is, which is exactly the point this article is making. Ignorant children, like yourself, abusing others because of who they are. “Nobody stopping you from doing what you want.” What? Like marriage and equal rights that every American deserves? Actually, the “government machine” as you call it, only recognizes same sex marriage in 7 of the 50 states. So yeah, there are 43 U.S. states that are stopping gay and lesbian couples from doing what they want, which is to be treated equally. Because they are human. The “Hollywood machine backing you up?” Really? I don’t even know what point you’re trying to make with that statement. Who is being punished for being what you consider normal? And how are they being punished? How are you being harassed? When commenting on an article about bullying gay, disabled, or obese children and calling them cry babies, perhaps you should play some other useless card in your deck, because your victim card just isn’t cutting it.
