RichardS - cows do eat corn now, primarily, because that's what they're fed in the industrialized food system. Of course, cows aren't mean to eat corn, and so they get sick feeding on it, so they're injected with all sorts of anti-biotics and drugs to keep them alive to produce meat and milk...and the meat and milk are infected with the drugs. Bon appetit!
Considering that the $1.8 trillion in red ink was largely created by the Bush administration (two foreign wars plus tax cuts and uncurbed spending), conservatives NO LONGER GET TO PREACH ABOUT THE NEED FOR FISCAL RESTRAINT. You just aren't allowed anymore; to do so is hypocritical in the extreme. Yes, the spending on stimulus puts us in a dangerous deficit situation - but it wouldn't be nearly so dangerous without the serious fiscal mismanagement of the last eight years.
The Assistant Coach salary pool has jumped from $60k to $430k?! Unbelievable. If none of the money came from state dollars, and only a "significant portion" came from private donors, where did the rest of the money come from? And if a "significant portion" (or maybe all) is one-time donor money, then how will the salaries get paid next year?

Poetic events
Given that Poe was born in 1809 and died in 1849, wouldn't he be a nineteenth-century mystery writer, not eighteenth?
Chattanooga: Huesman’s salary in middle of SoCon pack
Okay, I misread that - it didn't jump FROM $60k to $430k, but BY $60k. Still ...
