sigh It would have been better if he hadn't lied in this article. Mosaic is a wonderful place for many who have no other place to go. He doesn't understand that Chattanooga will accept a lot when presented with an attitude of love, trust, and faith. He has sabotaged a good group of people from potentially doing the work of God... I am disappointed...
Going to 5 day delivery will do nothing to impact the Post Office budget. Mail carriers get paid according to how much mail they deliver, not how many days they work. If one delivery day is cut, over 50K people will lose their jobs, how is that good for the economy? Most of those jobs will not be the ones who are career employees (having benefits), they will be the relief carriers who are delivering as a second job or working to pay their way through school. The same amount of mail will be delivered, but the work days will be longer, and overtime will cripple any intended money saving. Also, what about all those people who are elderly or home-bound in some way? Those people need to get their medication on time. If Saturday deliveries are eliminated, when will the people who have jobs through the week get the mail that requires a signature?
What needs to happen is more control of local mail should be given to the local Post Offices. The people who work at the Post Office work for their neighbors, family, and friends. When Bob sends a birthday card to Jane (three streets over), that letter has to go to Nashville for processing, then sent back to the same carrier who picked it up for delivery. All on a $0.44 budget, I can easily see how they are losing money.
What has happened is people have been promoted to the point of incompetency. The Post Office has managers managing managers. Bureaucracy at it's finest. Crunching numbers looks good on paper, but when it is practiced in real life, it falls apart. If a manager has never held the position he/she manages, then the manager is ineffective.
If a club was serving alcohol, I would be inclined to think it might be responsible for the behaviour of the patrons once they leave. If it was promoting an attitude of hate or violence, I could understand linking the violence to the establishment. None of that is going on here. It is a program run by a legitimate, although alternative, church. There is no alcohol, and -clearly- the message it promotes is not one of hatred.
