Love your avatar! I'm so glad that you are posting so often. Your comments are gutsy, witty, and well-informed; a great combination! I always look for them!
I really appreciated the link to Clay's cartoon. I noticed that the education, healthcare, and what looks like 'sanity' (I love it!) snakes have been stomped to death already. Sadly, too true... If he had room, he could have added a couple more, collective bargaining and church/state separation. Do you think this is tomorrow's cartoon or maybe the editor just decided it was too hot to handle?
Wow! I didn't know that Clay produced toons that don't appear in the TFP. Is it a delay or censure? I really like the one you linked on canary's page. That one would generate a long discussion, I think.
I know how it feels when someone gets your goat and you find yourself dragged down to their level, but I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed reading your creatively caustic comeback to SeaMonkeyFrancis. You know how to turn a phrase.
I appreciated your response to the person that suggested that those receiving Medicaid and other aid be required to undergo drug testing. Your mention of East Germany made me think that you might enjoy watching one of my favorite movies, 'The Lives of Others'. It's a German-made political thriller set in East Germany just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It won the 2006 Academy Award for best foreign language film. It does a great job of conveying the oppressive psychological atmosphere in which East Germans lived. It should be available through Netflix. I think you'll really like it.
I wouldn't say this on the regular threads, but the people who think that liberals want communism are complete morons.
Got your note about my post 3/27...well, I took a half-hearted swipe with 'boots on the ground' but I never connected. It's frustrating because mayonnaise is so stubborn and blissfully ignorant and no matter what you say or how convincingly you make your point, at the end of the day it's still a stinking jar of stinking mayonnaise.
Yeah, I was lazy. Over the past three years we've remodeled every room in our house except the master bedroom so we started on that last week. The devil 'popcorn' ceiling came down Sunday and i'm prepping to install ceiling tile. Cool stuff, looks like it belongs in an Englishman's reading room where he goes after supper for brandy and cigars.
But no excuses. I let him live and I had his head propped up on his own fist, goofy grin egging me on, rivulet of silver drool inching downward...begging for a tolchok from my boot... kiss of ultraviolence... and then out comes the blood, me brother, real beautiful...
Gee, I thought that I baited the hook pretty well, but not one monkey, whatsit, or patriot came up to bite. How disappointing! I guess I need to take lessons from you. They are either much smarter or much dumber than I thought; my guess would be the latter.
BTW, how are those starched underpants working out?
LOTS of people feel a puff of wind passing over their head when you write; I like that. As for your comment, I guarantee there is no incompetence involved.
BTW, "garbage can lid of freedom"?! You're going to have to work on that one or the revolution won't be televised. I'll watch for your class war essay; this should be good....
Just got your tea party post and agree completely with the 'dumbing down' of America. I was working at an Arts Council back in the early 80s and saw the beginning under Reagan. Cut funding for the Dept. of Education (don't remember if they succeeded but they tried), and attack the teachers' unions.
We wrote a block grant that allowed us to bring the arts back into public schools and I got to be the auditor. Nothing like having an assembly full of elementary school children give you a standing ovation. Teachers and administrators were appreciative, too, but the funding eventually dried up.
I have been watching ever since with sad eyes as they eliminated not only art and music, but gym, geography, history, and any attempt to teach critical thinking.
The chickens, as the adage warns, have come home to roost.
Keep up your excellent work. You set a high mark in both content and style.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish that I could take the credit, but I'm not that clever. I'll keep my eyes open for more gems from 'The Onion', but much of it contains too much '#%£€#¥!'. After all, there are children (OK, childlike minds) present. Here are some others you may have missed...
There are a few older videos that I loved. You would have to go to their website and do a search...
'Patriotic Teen Fails Spanish'....
'FDA Official: "Just Eat A G**damn Vegetable"'....
'Social Security Scam Robs Elderly By Convincing Them They Are Dead'
You have been writing some great posts lately! Your essay on class warfare was REALLY good and your tea party bit was classic. I love the little comic gems of vivid imagery that you come up with, like.... "SeaMonkey as a wildly barking Chihuahua running around just out of reach of your baseball bat". I'm very glad that you are posting so often; you are one of my favorites to read.
Jim Beam? I don't know.... maybe a nice glass of wine.
Wow! I see that I left just a little too early yesterday. Do you feel better after getting that off your chest? Thanks for adding to my list of available insults; I'll keep it in my back pocket for quick reference (I'm particularly fond of "rapturehead"). I can't tell you how many times on this forum I have wanted to totally eviscerate someone with exactly what I think of them. So far I have managed to maintain (more or less) a basic level of civility, but it isn't easy. A couple of times I have written scathing posts and then just set them aside, just the writing has helped. There are a few people here that I have a particularly hard time dealing with; the person that you so handily smacked down is one of them. Someone that vile needs to be called out for their bigotry. Tolerance of intolerance is not a virtue.
I think I'll go have a snack now, maybe something green...... mixed with bean sprouts and soy sauce.
Thanks for the 1% video link. IT'S EXCELLENT and I LIKE IT. It has lots of potential, and I’ve forwarded it on to a number of friends, enemies, and relatives.
In regard to your May 21st post on the board about the need for a Democratic challenger in the 2012 presidential race, I have not made up mind as to what needs to be done here. Indeed, things are wild and crazy these days. For me, a lot depands on what happens in the next couple of months. If I do opt to go this route, I’m partial to Russ Feingold for a variety of reasons. I also admire Dennis and Howard a lot, but I’m just partial to Feingold.
Will also take this opportunity to say how much I enjoy your posts – I also LOVE your avatar. Just wish and think you should post a bit more frequently. [grin]
limric- Thanks so much for the link to the animation. I like Mark Fiore's work a lot. Of course, I'm a bit biased when it comes to editorial cartoonists. I still think that we folks in Chattanooga snagged us the best one.
I lived for 5 years in BMH, Alabama. But now I am in Germany,
enjoying the reasonable neighborhood, the fact that live is totally non-religious,
no paranoia, little 6-year old kids walking alone to schools, or taking buses...
I observe your politics from the far distance.... remembering the intellectual craziness
of the south....
Thanks, man, for the Olbermann rant. I already watched it but enjoyed it again.
Time to get your pitchfork and torches, but as evidenced by waaay too many seemingly hard working ham and eggers on this site, they just don't get it. They want to blame the unemployed for not having a job, blame the poor for not having money, and blame the sick for not being well.
Dismantling public education, by demonizing teacher's unions for political purposes, is just more evidence of our race to the bottom.
But I digress. See you in the funny papers! And thanks again...
Limric, checkout Vanity Fair with Depp on cover, its about Hunter Thompson. You probaly all ready know, but i thought of you when reading it and i love the writter of the article.
Greetings Limric, you are obviously a very wise man, and I enjoy watching you try and make them think, be it a lost cause. I watched the video you posted, I guess if you want to plant an American flag you better not do it in Zucatti park. You just might get your ass kicked if you try, not really what most people would consider a free country. It amazes me how easy it is to brainwash the American sheeple, but I guess you only have to look at McDonalds success to figure that one out. If you tell a fool anything long enough they will start to believe it. I'm not sure if you are getting paid for your writing but you DAMN sure should be. I try to keep myself informed of what's going on in the world but I am quite sure I'll never catch up to you. I wish you you best, I have a lot to be thankful for, and it sounds like you do as well. I look forward to your next post, may you be healthy and prosperous til the day you die, a long time from now. With warmest reguards, I remain, Nooga.

Sorry man; couldn't find the post. Did the "man" delete?
Where are you a GIS analyst? We have a whole floor of them at Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St Petersburg, from which I just retired. Always enjoy comments by you and Blackwater!
Thanks for the tracking point links. I have seen a couple of bits on that one now. I still cannot tell for sure if it can compensate for wind. I see your second link claims that it does but the writer does not seem to be savvy enough to know what a profound statement that is. I have also seen unanswered questions about whether the technology can lead a moving target. I suspect the answer to both questions is no at this time.
Still incredible technology, but I think I am going to hold out until it does wind and lead for the same money!
In the mean time, for less than 1/10 that price I do have an integrally suppressed Ruger 77/44 on the way. Hopefully some executive order will not cancel this purchase.
and then click the "AVAILABLE: Curtis's NEW Silenced 77/44 Rugers!"
link at the bottom of the page you can see this rifle.
This is a great weapon. The large bore and heavy bullet let you get great energy at subsonic velocities. It is incredibly quiet. The target "smack" is the loudest thing you hear when you fire it. Since it is a bolt action you do not even hear the action slap that you get with a semi-auto. The best part, the entire gun costs less than some suppressors I have bought! Night time hog hunting anyone? :)
Great avatar! Fear and loathing indeed...

Thanks for the Yashica suggestion, will have to try it. My favorite is the HOLGA which I have yet to work with but I plan to change that soon.

I think Mr. Dan made many valid points which were undermined by that anti-colonial, marxist, socialist, muslim, mixed race child.
Really, Mr. Limrick, I think you're promoting the complete annihilation of our Corporate Overlords.
Keep up the good work.
