OK. Back to the subject matter.
I read earlier that an ACLU lawyer Mark Rosenbaum said, "This case is ultimately about whether students of color in Michigan are allowed to compete on the same playing field as all other students. Today the Supreme Court said they are not,"
Hmm. This statement is patently false. A level playing field is not, and cannot be, achieved through a series of (in this case racial) preferences. And I posit the two concepts are incompatible.
Folks, you need to look into the actual history of Affirmative Action. It was originally proposed as a temporary fix, to last maybe 10-15years max. That was back in the '60s, about.....hmm well - let's see........45 years ago.
One could argue that minority kids have been fed into substandard schools. Thus, they end up unprepared for college work. Ok, but is the solution to baby them into college? No, as it skirts core educational issues, focuses blame incorrectly and it is not a fix.
If you disagree with this (and I’m sure there are many), and still advocate race-based affirmative action as a solution, then its hard refute the logic that you assume (by default) minority students of color are well.......not quite as capable as white students. Hmm……
And that would make you a – well you know.

How fu*king stupid do you think he is? Damn!!
Ah Yea Zableedofisterix, it does fly!
Cheezy123, yours and brother Zableedofisterix’s ad homonym attacks, ‘Ignoratio elenchi’ and constant use of ‘Whataboutism’ form of a‘tu quoque’ reveals your true nature.
Without the aforementioned argumentative fallacies, reasoned debate (or even making sense) is something quite outside the realm of both of yours comprehension.
Yea but- Yea but -Yea but- Yea but-OBAMA!……………………
What's missing from the commentary, inflamed rhetoric and ad homonym attacks is basic observation. Clay's cartoon depicts two justices that are themselves considered 'minorities' with opposing views....about minorities.
It's rather clever if you think about it.
Justice Thomas came to the Court with less qualifications than any Justice of the 20th Century. His agenda is clear, transparent, and utterly predictable. He seems to have never recovered psychologically from the turmoil and rancor of his confirmation hearings. He remains the poster child of an affirmative action appointment by Ronald Reagan- who opposed such preferential treatment- for every other African-American.
OH the irony!
Thomas clearly subscribes to Lincoln's dictum, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
His anger and self-loathing have aged him far beyond his years. Neither Harriet Beecher Stowe nor Hollywood Casting could conceive or find a more prototypical Uncle Tom --though he actually resembles Uncle Remus much more.
His life imitates art.
Well I have to say, a number of the first posters to this cartoon was an example of an intellectual landslide. The boulders of open racism and bigotry cascading down a mountain face of boorish stupidity.
Now that I’ve gotten my snarling out of the way, I am going express my agreement with the court’s ruling; which upheld the change to the Michigan state Constitution (voter-approved) that prevents public colleges from using race as a factor in its admissions.
I really want to see where it takes us…if I live that long. The logic of my concurrence is hopefully explained by my last question.
Justice Sotomayor wrote in her dissent, "In my colleagues' view, examining the racial impact of legislation only perpetuates racial discrimination."
She also Added, "But one thing has not changed: to doubt the worth of minority students’ achievement when they succeed is really only to present another face of the prejudice that would deny them a chance even to try."
Again – How?
George Washington, a Detroit lawyer said, "To take away the rights of minorities is a shocking decision."
How is this ‘taking away’ minority rights?
Last question: Doesn’t taking race out of an admissions process automatically make the process equal in this regard; i.e. color blind. Therefore negating a need to meet any so called race quota?
I wouldn't know if you did spin anyway, as I tend not to look in the rear view mirror all that much.
As Raul Julia said, "Whatsa behind me, is not important."
I too have driven the TT, yes it’s a little pocket rocket…mm sort of; but it will swap ends as quick as ya please if you’re not on top of it (and even if you are). So do Porches but the over-steer is MUCH more predictable. The TT is, in a word, unstable.
While I think their engineering is very very good. Their execution- not so much. How much to repair a VW or an Audi (which do have reliability issues) compared to a Ford- or even a Honda? WOW! It makes one gasp. How many 10 year old Audi’s do you see plying the roads with the domestics or Japanese cars? Not many. There’s a reason for that.
I have driven, and had friends and relatives who owned them (both VW & Audi) over the last 3 decades - they just don’t hold up. ALL of them have had major mechanical (expensive!) problems. This is not counting the little niggling issues (AC vents break in a month, knobs cracking etc). None would buy them again. I think VW’s (as well as Audi’s) are, as a whole, sub-par.
While not an Audi or VW, I have a friend who owns a BMW 3 series that doesn’t even have a PlainTruth – oh sorry, I meant dipstick. Are they that good does that it justifies the pathology behind this kind of malignant thinking? Umm no. But I digress…
I'll stick too my ‘ugly cheap’ Subaru & 1970 Chevy Pickup until I get enough money for a new Stingray and be able to keep up with an Enzo while not giving a sh!t about dust rock chips or reliability (or a 2003 EVO that’ll blow the doors off ANY Audi).
Until I blow it up…which I have done in the past.
Try to be objective Tifosi. Do you believe VW/AUDI make 'quality' automobiles? Compared to....?
Not the AUDI racing cars (Auto Union Silver Arrows from the past?)which are/were brilliant, but regular soccer mom drivers.
For those who blindly accept the anti-worker, anti-middle class warfare disinformation propaganda of the ‘Right to Work’ prevaricators, I offer a seven minute documentary on the well-known tale of the rise and fall of Detroit. It wasn’t all the unions doing!
Detroit: From Luxury to Landfill
by Economy In Crisis
The ultimate goal of ‘Right to Work’ is to break unions so corporations can lower pay and eliminate benefits. It has nothing to do with your ‘right to work’. In other words The ‘Right to Work’ really means you have NO RIGHTS at work!

Open your eyes!!
Clay’s symbology, regardless of how you interpret its message is very well done. Kudos Mr. Bennett.
The 'Fair Tax' is a Trojan Horse that will crush the remnants of the middle class, the poor & the economy as a whole. All while creating a black market to rival Baghdad, Isfahan or any other 3rd world country.
I find it hard to believe its still has treads.
