"While Mr. Hammond is able to pay for public exposure through billboards and other advertisements, Dr. Swansbrough said, the other candidates may feel forced to stir up negative publicity in order to generate free media coverage for their campaigns.
Political underdogs “are more likely to try to make news and attack. Otherwise, you’d just get run over,” he said. “But it has to have some credibility.”"
If you wanted to see dirty politics, you should have been at the Republican Caucus. Why is it "negative" if it's the truth?!

This is in response to the statement made "Fred Fuson never excelled as a police officer."
It is obvious that this person is not familiar with Fred Fuson, because everyone, who worked with him for over 30 years at the Chattanooga Police Department, knows that he excelled as a police office, but more importantly as a kind and compassionate human being you could trust and on whom you could depend.
During his tenure at the Chattanooga Police Department, Fred excelled in organizing special teams within his command to address and combat high crime rates in the Highland Park and East Lake areas. The officers under his command had pride in the "Fox Team" sector and enjoyed coming to work. Their performance and number of arrests reflected this.
Fred enjoyed being with and leading his officers on the street. He was never known to have any desire to climb the rank structure within the Chattanooga Police Department.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage my friends and acquaintances to write in Fred Fuson on the ballot for Hamilton County Sheriff on August 7, 2008
Respectfully,

Will some please explain to me why this is a "smear campaign" when everything that has been disclosed is public record. And, if I'm not mistaken the information provided came from the Republication party not once but twice at Mr. Hammond's two failed attempts to hold this office as a Democrat. People need to get over it. It is what it is and he is what he is.
