5- I don't think Auburn is looking past Mizzou. I am more worried about the Iron Bowl hangover, and Mizzou's D-line. I can't argue with TOSU being in the NC if they are undefeated.
I also think you don't beat Saban two times in a year.
I think SEC fatigue set in after the LSU-Bama rematch.
I like Stucky's pick. I agree MSU will "upset" TOSU. Another factor- I think TOSU believes they are in the NC, and MSU is shooting for the Rose Bowl. They haven't been since 1988 (I think)and want it badly.
What are the odds on an Iron Bowl II?
Pushed the send button too soon...
I know there will be backlash on the reduced games, but schedule the playoffs regionally a la NCAA BB. Conference champs automatic bid from Big 5 or 6 conferences. Then 4 or 5 at large. Maintain the lessor bowls for the next 640 teams that didn't make it.
MT - I agree, except in the number of teams. Take the top 10 only - the top 2 get a bye. Everyone plays a 10 game schedule 8 or 9 conference games and 1 homecoming patsy. Lock in 3 sets of voters, college football sportswriters, current and ex-coaches, and one computer guru in a basement. All has to be transparent every week. The computer guru has to publish the formula. Tah dah playoff and creditability. Rotate coaches every 2-3 years, and maybe writers too.
One second...War Dadgum Eagle!
Logically I agree with TOSU as BSC #2, as they are undefeated in a major conference, however, lets play the Conference Championship games. I think MSU has a good chance to upset TOSU. I haven't seen a line on the Tigers vs. Tigers yet, but right now I'd say Mizzou -2, based on Auburn having to recover from a huge emotional high.
5/10 - what's the O/U on the SECCG? 75?
Auburn 34 Bama 31
Yes that's from the heart.
That was a spot on analysis of the Iron Bowl. Mcpell Jr & I both said that yesterday morning in the car. Final score prediction 34-31. Heart says Auburn pulls it out in the end, but brain says "you dummy its Bama!" So take the 10 for entertainment purposes.
Lynch deserves an invite to DAC, the kid from BC will probably win it in a close one.
HOF - Glavine, Thomas, Maddux, Cox & LaRussa.
Wow, still celebrating the immaculate deflection from Saturday night.
I have to agree with Stucky on 2 of his finishes, but I'd add the Tenn-Ark game from 98, especially since I had sat through the rain on that one with Mrs Mcpell, who is a UT fan.
Gus is COY lock if Auburn beats Bama.
5- it does seem that Auburn has brought kittens to a dog fight the last year or so, maybe this time they'll upsize. Its going to be a close game if Gurley is truly healthy. I look for Marshall to start passing after a couple of series.
Looks like I picked a bad time to stop drinking, with Mocs v Samford & Auburn v UGA. Both games wont be easy for the Mocs or Gus' War Eagles.
9er - loved the classic line: "Then you try to see how many bases you can touch."
