I would think that the NCAA will probably say that while marijuana is legal in those two states, it is still illegal everywhere under federal law. Therefore, no weed. In terms of a recruiting advantage, I would say that Colorado football needs all the help they can get. Maybe the NCAA will give them an exemption....
As an LSU fan I am happy, everything looking good so far.
As someone who was at the UT game this week, I would say all the Vols fans need to chill. UT lost, but that was the most competitive I have seen them look in a while. I do not think most people realize how bad off the program was when Dooley took over. This very fact is reflected by the hiring of Dooley, who had a losing record at L.A. Tech. He was the best coach they could get, because more established coaches were scared off by the greasefire that was UT football at the time. It will take time, UT is a complete rebuild. Not so mention, with UT still paying Pearl, Fulmer and Hamilton, I doubt they are in the position to buy Dooley out. Also, Florida is a good team! No shame in losing to them.
I think we have seen the new NCAA that is going to be more proactive and really hammer teams that commit major violations or allow football to become bigger than the school. This MAY be a good thing. Hopefully, it coincides with a reworking of the archaic Byzantine NCAA rule book, so less time is wasted on ticky-tacky minor violations like too much texting. Maybe an early signing day would also help. While I am on the subject of things I would like to see change, a dead period for hiring coaches in football from the last regular season game until the NC should be in place. Nothing sadder than a bowl team without a coach.
The punishment did fit the crime, and this is effectively a "death penalty" for many years to come. Losing that many scholarships will prevent Penn St. from being competitive for many years. I am just glad the NCAA is allowing all the current players to transfer without penalty. Most of them probably will, the good players anyway. I saw that the Big10(12?) also stepped in and cut them out of bowl money and the Big10(12?) Championship for the next 4 years, not that Penn St. would have made it there.
The Open was the best weekend event by far. I was really glad to see Ernie get one more title. He seems like a nice guy. What an epic melt down.
Also, no way in heck (family column) 2012 takes down 1992 if all the players are in their prime. Now, the 2012 team against 1992 at the ages at the time they were on the team, Mr. Bryant may have a good point. The 2012 team players would probably be too busy taking dives to stop the 1992 team though. Is hand checking allowed? If so 2012 goes down for sure.
Remake Green Berets! That movie was so terrible even John Wayne couldn't save it. We owe it to the Duke to make a decent, maybe grittier, try at it. I also believe a reboot/remake of Gremlins could be awesome. I heard today there are negotiations going on to make a new National Lampooon's Family Vacation movie with Ed Helms in the title role as a grown up Rusty on his own family trip. Could be good, but only with an appearance from Chevy as grandpa Clark.
Sheen. At least you know what you are getting with him (several things I cannot mention in a family friendly column). Who knows what kind of weird stuff Cruise and those Scientologists are getting up to.
Also, Blazing Saddles and Raising Arizona are two of the best all time. I would like to quote Blazing Saddles, however, I am not sure I can come up with one that would fit with the aforementioned family friendly column.
For the record, I always liked Delirious better than Raw, but both are excellent. No mention of Chris Rock's 1996 HBO special "Bring the Pain"? It is right up there with Murphy's best stuff in my opinion.
5-at-10: Election recap, college football, and the Tennessee Titans nickname

5-at-10: College football, Fantasy rules and cursed sports teams
Being a Saints fan pre-Brees was no cake walk. If I remember correctly it took 37 years to get that first playoff win.
5-at-10: SEC questions, Braves and is Phelps the best Olympian ever
Even better is Mr. Mingo's nickname: Keke
5-at-10: Let's have a little fun
Red Foxx=Fred Sanford
