One thing about this situation with Thurman is that it brought light to the increasing problems with the inner city schools and student (not all). Some students are performing below their grade levels. However, Ms. Thurman does not know how to communicate in an effective way w/o using racist comments. In her interview, she constantly spoke of race (black, white and hispanics) why?? The inner city has problems with teenagers not being able to find jobs for the summer, parents finding affordable summer programs for their children, and parents w/personal problems, etc. If this city really wants to help the inner city, they could bring back the "Work Corp", music program for the schools, etc.

My question to her would be this: What schools does your children attend? Are they in private schools? If they are in private schools, then Thurman has NO confidence in public schools system in Chattanooga. As representative of District 1, Ms. Thurman needs use more tact as a public figure.
