Thank-you, Charlie Pierce, for saying in a much more eloquent manner what those of us who watched last night already concluded: If that debate was a boxing match, the referee would have stopped it in the 4th round as a TKO.
With all due respect, that's a bunch of malarkey. Biden wiped the floor with Ryan's backside last night. And in the process, Biden should have opened the eyes to every reasonably intelligent voter in the country to this very sobering possibility . . . that in the unlikely event Mittens actually does get elected, heaven help this country if Paul Ryan were to become the leader the of the free world. Just like the same scary prospect voters faced four years ago with the McCain - Palin ticket.

No doubt planned, but after the debate it was a necessity to try to keep some on board and sway undecided. No doubt where the Cult variety stands as seen here.

You are being much too harsh on your fellow TeaBaggers. I mean, if Obama truly had the means and the ability to fudge and release contrived unemployment #s, he certainly could have done so long ago and took all the wind out of Etch-A-Sketch's sails even before the debate, no?
Let me see if I got this straight: if the unemmployment #s are negative, it's Obama's fault. If the unemployment #s are positive, it's Obama's fault because he cooked the books.
So according to all you TeaBaggers crying "Foul!" because you think the latest unemployment #s are cooked, please explain to the rest of us
1) Why Obama chose to wait until a mere 30 days before the election if he had the ability all along;
and
2) Why he purposely waited until AFTER the 1st debate to do so for the very first time.
Etch-A-Sketch is now saying he "was completely wrong" about his 47% comment. Gee, I wonder why the timing of his admission is only now? Could it be merely "damage control" in advance of the upcoming Town Hall debate? What a coincidence.
Obama had plenty of opportunities to rip into Romney last night but didn't. What would that have really accomplished? The people who support Romney are still going to vote for him and the people who support Obama are still going to vote for him; regardless of who was perceived to have won last night's debate.
Obama knows he's very close to winning the Electoral College and really only needs one swing state to fall his way to wrap up re-election. While Mittens was firing away, Obama remained outwardly cool, reserved, and well "Presidential" last night.
I think it's safe to say that the President's advisors basically told him "let Romney take his shots and don't demean yourself by attacking back. Take the high road."
One thing I am disaapointed with BO about is that last night he refused to call out Romney on one of many obvious contradictions . . .
How is it that Romney sudddenly fashions himself as some kind of "champion" for the America's midle-class and as someone who would cut their taxes?
Obama should have jumped all over the fact that residents of Massachusetts pay THE highest taxes of ANY state in the U.S., bar none.
More than NJ and even more than NY. People are fleeing Massachusetts in droves for nearby states like New Hampshire and Rhode Island. The middle-class in MA are taxed to death and quite simply can't afford to live there anymore.
Good 'ol Mittens, the newfound Champion of the Middle-Class.
I wonder if this guy can also predict the PowerBall #s with the identical accuracy? Everything, and I do mean everything he said is the way it unfolded last night.
