In regards to the closing of Taft Youth Center I would like to say that I respect Cameron Sexton and Jim Cobb for standing their ground and trying to keep the Taft facility open. On the other hand my feelings that our government is only concerned about themselves has been confirmed. Haslam doesn't give a damn about the impact that closing Taft is going to have on the State of Tennessee. He its only concerned with benefitting hisself and his click.

I wonder if the residents of the State of Tennessee realize just how drastic of measures were taken to make sure the vote to close Taft was in Haslam's favor. It is a shame that the elected officials of the State of Tennessee cannot freely vote and voice their opinions without being threatened to be "in trouble" if they don't do things a certain way.

It is really sad that we can't depend on our government to put the best interest of our state first. No wonder the world is in the shape it is in. The people we thought were there to fight for us and our rights are the very ones that are doing everything to ruin our world without any regard to the damage it may be doing to us the citizens. This move is a real shame and I have a feeling the State of Tennessee is going to be paying for this one long after Haslam is gone from office. But he is not worried about that because he will have his kickbacks and won't care what happens to us. He hasn't cared so far and he definitely won't care then.

First I want to comment on the last paragraph of this ariticle. It doesnt matter to Haslam what ANYBODY in the State of Tennessee needs. His main objective is to take care of his self and his "peeps". Second I want to say if you havent read "mountainboy's comment" read it cause it says it all. The thing is Haslam had to start somewhere, but I am almost willing to bet u everything he has was handed to him so the meaning of "working to make a living" means nothing to him. I too hate to see Taft go but it aint about what we as a STATE need its about how much money we can line their pockets with. In closing, maybe Washington needs to be brought in on this and I too will probably never vote R again. CANT AFFORD TO.

Well Laughing Boy no one is hoping for anything they are just stating the obivious. Like your were told before u don't have a clue about the setting of Taft or what takes place there. The employees of Taft do care tremendously about the boys that are housed there and I have witnessed this first hand. Everyone there goes above and beyond to see that theses boys get the help and services they need. And like it has been said many times before Taft is who the other facilities call when they can't control a boy but who will they call now. This is going to be a move that HASLAM AND O'DAY IS GOING TO REGRET MAKING. Why is this so hard for people to understand. Those boys know whats coming they know where they will be going and they know what they will be able to get away with once they get there because there won't be a Taft to threaten them with.

To pick up where I messed up. During this time when the presidential primary is all over our tv Haslam is on there supporting his man and you gotta wonder if he gets in office too what happens then. Our elected officials are supposed to work for the people not the almighty dollar.

Cook is absolutely right it is all about the money when it comes to Haslam and O'Day and how much they can put in their own pockets. They need to have concern about the State of Tennessee instead of how much money they can "supposedly save". And now during this time when we have presidential primaries going on Haslam is our TTV

I hope that our state officials will do some research of their own rather than taking the word of one before making a decision to close Taft. There are way too many juveniles and staff that will be affected by a decision such as this and not in a good way. What is more important here the furture of the children that this facility can help or closing it to supposedly save money?
