Can you get my story to Jennelle Gilreath? She might be interested on how her work really happened with the real Judy Garland.
Great story on Judy Garland. I have a "momment" picture and story that goes really well with this recent story on Judy Garland and singing to the troops. In 1944 my dad was getting ready to go over seas in which he became a POW and spent 6 months in a German POW camp. He received a phone call before going over from Judy Garland. He didn't beleive her, she said what can I do, and he said sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow. She did and he believed. It is captured in the February 1945 Photoplay Magazine in which I have accumulated several issues. I was going to send a copy of the page and story but do not know how to attach one here. If you are interested, I think it would be a great and true follow-up to your Monday "Momment" story. If you are interested, here is my email. email@example.com. I have several other stories that he has provided us from WWII. Some in the POW camp...A German guard that the soldiers thought was a US spy (he saved their lives)....meeting a German POW camp guard on the streets in Illinois....A promise of two soldiers while prisoners, ordering everything on the menu when they got out and they did (In the book TRIO authored by Dan Bied)....I could go on and on.
I have several of these stories electronically that I could email you. Hope you are interested!! A proud son of an American soldier and my families hero.
