Demand drives business economics. A wealthy person does not go out hire a bunch of people just because he has a wad of cash burning a hole in his pocket. He hires more workers because he cannot produce enough with the workers he already has because of the high demand for his product or service. High demand is driven by a healthy consumer class with lots of discretionary income.
