Lr103, why would you even talk about something that you seem to know nothing about. First, i dont know if you facts are even right about the "30" people who were allowed to come back. Second, if priority was given to the elderly/disabled people over young able bodied people then whats the issue.
I spend alot of time in the villages. I see kids out playing all the time.I see people standing out talking. I see people walking around exercising. Matter of fact, just got out and played foot ball with three little boys the other day for a few minutes. It is not true about being fined over a piece of paper in a yard. I know the entire staff. They work hard to make sure the Villages are kept clean, lanscaped, and work even harder to try to keep the criminal element out. Most of the residents also work hard to keep their neighborhood clean and safe. So maybe next time you "drive thru" go a little slower. See the ones who have their yards fixed up with flowers and other things that show they take pride in where they live. Thank God that i have been blessed enough in my life that i do not need assistance of sorts. I keep in mind that you never know what could happen one day that could change all of that. For the ones who are on assistance for what ever the reason may be, they too deserve a place to live that is clean and with out fear of being able to sit outside due to criminal activity. Are there rules to go by? There sure are. Sorry if that bothers some but the staff at The Villages of Alton Park work hard to make sure the property is clean and as safe as possible. I could go on but my point is that every neighborhood has its issues but do this. Go try to pull crime statistics when McCallie Homes was there and look at the area now. Pull the crime statistics in College Hill Courts and Harriet Tubman. It would seem to me that if there is a way to make life a little better then you would be for it.
BUlbs..no confusion on my part! i can not help that when you try to project your obviously superior intellect that you make absolutley no sence! Scary!! your a voter. No wonder!
Hey Paco, Have you ever been robbed? Me either? I would say that it is very terrifying. I would also say that the thoughts that would run through your head would be please dont kill me not knowing if they intend to or not. So yes it may not be thin blues money but if he was in fear of dying then do what you feel justified in doing thin blue!
Make "them" reach out to everybody? who's "them"? and who is everybody? Are there not poor white democratic voters???? Are there not poor white republican voters??? are there not poor black republican voters? Yes there are blacks and whites that are in the same boat. Most of both want to live life, be treated equally, and do not go around looking for some hidden twisted racial agenda with every incident that makes the headlines. There wer whites during the civil rights movement that stood up and would not tolerate racial oppression and there are whites today that would not as well!
JustinThyme: How can you reasonably say that the traditional Churches dont seem to be reaching kids? There are counltess traditional Churches with countless youth programs with counltess youths involved. So yes the traditonal churches along with thier youth programs and local youth programs do make a difference. Yes they are more traditional i guess. They do not rent out space to throw weekly parties, serve alcohol, and provide music filled with profanity and sexual over tones. A "Pastor" is supposed to protect his flock. The incident from Christmas Eve night was not the first nor the second act of violence coming from or centered around that establishment. Im all for thinkning outside the box to reach and minister but when it comes to putting those at risk is very untraditional. So when it comes to sending my kids some where i choose traditional if Mosaic is the other option.
JUst wana let everyone know (not that ya care) i am white and really could care less what people call me. I am all for ebing equal. Im also all for having a voting system with as much integrity as possible. For all citizens with voting rights. It seems frm some of the under tones is less about the democratic vote and more about the african american vote. 90 percent of registered african american voters are democrats. Thats a pretty high percentage. Both parties share the blame. Both parties have some corruptness inside. Fact is we are the greatest nation in the world. Are things perfect? No? Can things improve? Yes. But not every move made by the white man is an attempt to send african americans back to the rear of the bus again. Many whites were along side african americans fighting for their liberties and many whites continue to do so. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Be fare and be equal to all races .Its time to stop the hate on either side and move onto better lives.
BULBS: i have no idea what you are even talking about. I am not a member of the tea party. My point was this...some reason its the local govenments responsiblity to find something for the youth to do. some reason its the governments responsiblitity to fund such things to do. The left think thatits the govenments place to take care of all their problems and fix it until it doesnt suit them. Merely pointing toa double standard.
Happybulbs: just as i thought i agreed with you...darn. You see the problem is is what you are refering to as the traditional church. You say that they are not doing anything to help black youth. Your right! they are doing things to help all youth and taking race out of it. Do you think that black kids are being turned away from the tradtional church as you call it? Its time to stop with the racial divide. people who want specific things for specific races is racism!

HA!!! Government "intrusion" when it comes to enforcing the laws and keeping the citizens safe. Not so when the ol' government is handing out checks.
