I am by no means justifying the actions of these two police officers, but no one knows the fully story of what happened here so don't pretend like you do. If your not a police officer you don't know have of the crap that police officers put up with on a daily basis. There are good cops out there, people just get pissed off at the ones who give them tickets for breaking the LAW, so they are inadvertently all bad. Yes I know there a lot of exceptions to my previous sentence, but lets be honest that is my most people think cops are bad. Because they get pissed when they get caught breaking the law
Dear Paying Attention:
I feel you have mis-understood my argument. I was not doubting the fact that Track 29 had the right to throw Corey Smith out. Thats totally within their grounds. But to say that because Track 29 is private institution and therefore the Constitution and 1st Amendment are not applicable is extremely wrong. Freedom of Speech DOES indeed apply to private institutions. Just because your a private organization does not mean you escape the government.
I realize that what I just said is a hard concept for some of you to grasp. Please dont hurt yourself thinking of it too much. You will never change your mind and I will never change yours. My advice would be to college if you haven't. Read and study the other side if you haven't. That dosen't include watching MSNBC if your a conservative every now and then. That does not count.
Let it be known that just because I am pro-choice does NOT make me liberal. Just because I am pro-choice does NOT make me pro-abortion. Just because I am pro-choice does NOT mean I am an atheist or anti-Christian or anti-religion.
Responding to have of your statements Libertain4Freedom would be a waste of time, seeing as how half of your responses were illogical in the most basic sense of logic. You cannot refute an argument by changing the subject without committing a logical fallacy. if you really have a problem with women cutting the tips of your condoms and not taking birth control then I would suggest start hanging out with women are trustworthy and not prostitutes from the streets. "Worship youth culture". Your dang right I do. I hate the "elders" who are so bitter against the youth because they are no longer one. Respect my elders? Why yes I do. What I don't respect is ignorant people like you who make judgements based off one view point I may hold. Making judgements based on one thing I believe I hate to tell you is once again, a fallacy. The whole study of science rejects that and you would be laughed out of any college. Hate innocent babies? I dont think so buddy. Now your getting way out of control. I love children, but just because I dont believe life starts at conception dosen't mean I hate babies. That once again, is a fallacy in your argument.
So basically what it boils down to is that most all of your claims against me are based on the fact that I am pro-choice and besides that you know nothing about me. Albeit I did that to you as well and I shouldn't have. But I never accused you of something as horrible as hating babies. Thats ridiculous. Get a grip. Democrats hate freedom? I hate to inform you but a good number of our founding fathers and framers of the Constitution would be considered "democrats." Alexander Hamilton, James Madison (The FATHER of the Constitution.)

The United States gave women the right do what they want with their bodies under Roe v. Wade.
Just because I am pro-choice does NOT mean i'm not a Christian.
I hate to inform everyone but just because Track 29 does not mean that it isn't a Constitutional issue. The Constitution IS the law of the land. Which means all State laws and local laws must follow Constitutional Law. The 1st Amendment (Free Speech) is the first Amendment in the Bill of Rights (that is rights pertaining to individual citizens.) The reason the Bill of Rights was adopted in the first place was because some framers of the Constitution were worried that the newly created Constitution didn't have any rights protecting the individual citizen. So yes be definition, the 1st Amendment, also in the Bill of Rights, does apply to this situation and therefore is applicable to censorship of Corey Smith at Track 29. Whether or not different laws come into play has not been raised, but i'm sure any well-to-do lawyer could easily find one and refute the constituionality of the argument.
Article VI, Section II of the Constitution: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding."
Pro- Freedom Libertarians4Freedom? That means your pro choice right? I mean considering abortion is legal under Roe v. Wade. I mean if you believe in freedom of the people than women so have the freedom to choose right? Oh no I forgot freedom only applies what you consider to be freedom such as the right to bear arms or whatever the rest of the right wing extremists believe. Am I for abortion? NO. And how ignorant of you to assume that simply because I protested and excercised my 1st Amendment rights. And you better believe I would protest PETA if they did the same thing but PETA didn't come to UTC, they did. Oh and nice way to use the phrase "you people." Grouping people into inferior categories? What does that remind me of? Oh yea Hitler.
Finally I think you have my argument all wrong. They had a perfectly good right to be at UTC and protest what they believe in. And I just as much have a right to counter-protest. To hang it outside the place we eat everyday? nasty. it's interesting how more UTC students responded more positively to our protest than theirs? Coincidence? Stop assuming who I am or what I am just becaue I protested against something I didn't believe. Its ignorant people like you that make American poilitics such a mess these days. It's people like you that are appauled at abortion but are the first ones in line to give someone the death penalty.
As a UTC student who helped start this movement let me clarify the message that we were trying to get across by counter protesting these people.
In their billboard messages they compared firstly abortion to genocide. Obviously they do not know they actual definition of genocide (that is the systematic killing or destruction of a people group based on race, politics, or cultural affiliation). Secondly on their billboards they had pictures of dead Jews killed by Hitler and the Third Reich next to aborted fetuses as well as dead children from the ACTUAL genocide in Rwanda next to aborted fetuses as well. We realize that they have accomplished what they had set out to do and that is do draw attention to themselves and to shock people with their pictures and slogans. But we also have accomplished what we set out do and that was to show these people that the students at UTC are not ignorant and will not buy into their lies and propaganda. We successfully and peacefully protested against their slogans and pictures and exercised our 1st Amendment rights just as they have exercised theirs.
This was NOT a pro-choice protest, though some students felt led to make posters that said so (which we were not going to turn away). This was a protest against ignorance and hate that these people were propagating. There are better ways to go about lowering abortion rates than scaring students into it. I felt extremely sorry for the students who had, had abortions and were forced to walk past those pictures going to their classes. They shouldn't be subjected to that.
