Happy Easter Clay!

Thought I would stick with your theme and post something I hope everyone will enjoy. A Leonard Cohen song sung by the great K.D. Lang! Simply forget everything you have been taught for a few minutes, close your eyes and relax. Everything is going to be OK!

ALPO, No apology here but I did find the lyrics/words to the Tom Waits selection. Now think about the words for a minute or two and perhaps your anger may subside, or maybe not. Anyway it appears the song gives insight into someone who does not follow organized religion but does recognize Jesus. He states Jesus may love him a little more. More than what? More than who? More than you? He doesn't say. Brilliant!! Is the Chocolate Jesus a reference to the possibility that Jesus was black? The reference to it picking him up more than a Cup Of Gold,,,, was he referring to Holy Communion and the Gold Challis the host is presented from that sticks to the roof of your mouth? Maybe? I say a Chocolate Jesus would be my preference although I have never experienced the immaculate confection. The story goes Mr. Waits was given a Chocolate Jesus by his father in law and so he wrote a song about it. The Abba Zaba is a nod to one of his idols, {Captain Beefheart} a song he titled Abba Zaba. So continue to be tormented inside your little mind or come on out with the big boys & girls and play. Your choice! Happy Easter!!!

Well I don't go to church on Sunday Don't get on my knees to pray Don't memorize the books of the Bible I got my own special way I know Jesus loves me Maybe just a little bit more I fall down on my knees every Sunday At Zerelda Lee's candy store

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus Make me feel good inside Got to be a chocolate Jesus Keep me satisfied

Well I don't want no Abba Zaba Don't want no Almond Joy There ain't nothing better Suitable for this boy Well it's the only thing That can pick me up Better than a cup of gold See only a chocolate Jesus Can satisfy my soul

When the weather gets rough And it's whiskey in the shade It's best to wrap your savior Up in cellophane He flows like the big muddy But that's ok Pour him over ice cream For a nice parfait

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus Good enough for me Got to be a chocolate Jesus Good enough for me

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus Make me feel so good inside Got to be a chocolate Jesus Keep me satisfied

HEY GAS,

So, "lET'S SAY" THEY DO SPEND ONE HOUR A DAY ON WRITING. That would be 180 hours a year. At the end of K-5 they have spent 1080 hours of instruction on writing and yet they still can't write, spell and lack a proper vocabulary. Include a short homework assignment to reinforce the daily focus and at the end of the year, if properly delivered the little darlings should show great gains in ability and confidence.

You touched on behavior. Guess who is the worst behaved in public schools. THE TEACHERS & ADMINISTRATORS! They congregate in the hall during instruction time ignoring their students and classroom. At recess they sit together and chat instead of providing proper supervision. Their job is to watch the sweeties and when Rotten Johnny/Judy have a moment they are there to reinforce good behavior and help the students understand what proper social interaction is. True some students are not taught to be considerate and kind to one another at home but in the confines of public education, the rules are set by administration and the expectations are minimal at best. What happens outside the school walls they have no control of, but inside their walls they are the absolute rulers. And the teachers kids are the worst receiving a free pass with their darling little mommies hovering over them telling everyone how adorable they are. HELICOPTER TEACHERS! Ever throw up just a little in your mouth?

As to being on grade level, again I put the blame on education. They have developed 3 distinct tiers of students entering kindergarten. The public educated pre-k students, the day care educated pre-k kids and the children who have had no pre-k experience. So please explain to me how any mix of these groups could possibly be on the same grade level. Just teaching children to sit, raise their hand, form a straight line for starters takes instruction time. Some enter with these skills and some don't. Some don't know their numbers, letters and colors. Some have never left the comfort of their mother/father, and some have never known it. SAD! Teachers are the major determining factor as to what these children become. One bad teacher in the K-5 chain is devastating to the outcome of that group. I suggest a ZERO TOLLERANCE for ineffective/bad teachers. They get a pass year after year until they finally are put out to pasture to graze off the taxpayer which unfortunately is going to be the same children they forgot to teach to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Good luck with your direct deposit retirement check from that group. Oh yeah, the bumper sticker. It still reads the same.

Just a thought to all the higher order thinkers here.

Cursive went the way of the Dodo Bird when occupational therapy and mentally handicapped children were mainstreamed into the classroom. They do not possess the ability to perform connective motion required to write cursive so a handwriting font called "Ball & Stick" was adopted.

An example of this writing font would be the lower case letter "a". You make a circle, then lift your pencil and place it to the upper right of the circle and draw a line straight down. Get it? Ball & Stick? Some call it Stick & Ball and I am certain if I didn't mention it some higher order thinker would attempt to know what they were talking about and find it necessary to correct me. So have at it.

The real loss of abandoning the teaching of cursive is a child not developing the ability to perform hand movement requiring connective motion. Some say nonsense but perhaps if your heart surgeon was a Ball & Stick devotee, no fault of his/her own, the quad bypass may not have been quite as successful. Your car mechanic would find benefit in being taught manual dexterity as a child. I would bet a DQ Tropical Blizzard that Yo-Yo Ma was a student of cursive handwriting. Also the reason kids today SUCK at spelling and writing is because teachers SUCK at teaching. Find that to harsh??? TOUGH S#!T!! Same reason they don't know 3+5=8.

Teachers used to have students write daily. They went home with the assignments and administered a water cooled 50 Cal. red pen to each & every paper and had students correct their mistakes. Not today. They do not have students write anything that they must read and correct. WHY??? Because they are the biggest group of non performers the modern world has ever seen.

So don't blame the kids for their spelling failure. Blame the administrators and the teachers. That is where it belongs. I can see the bumper sticker now.

Can't read this bumper sticker? THANK A TEACHER!

War On Poverty = Affordable Health Care

Both political lies to the American public to buy a vote.

SHOCKING?????

Where is W.C. Fields when you really need him? Sometimes we all need a reminder.

Lower level thinkers do stupid things like go out in the dark with their gun when they are afraid of the dark. If it was daytime there would have been no threat perceived and the elderly gentleman would have been returned to his home to find what comfort he enjoyed there.

If this shooter did not have a gun would he have gone out in the dark to confront the suspected prowler? No, simply because he is afraid of the dark. Law enforcement was notified and in route so why the need to be so macho? STUPIDITY. Just like the jackhole who shot the teenager in Ringgold or Clay trying to politicize a situation that has little to do with the NRA.

The majority of this nation has little business owning firearms. Their reasons for ownership make no sense and most often cause tragedy to families and friends. Just the opposite of what the gun owner intended it be used for. The BoogieMan is not real people!

Remember, if you are afraid of the dark as many people are, stay inside where you have the option of turning on a light. In the case of the disgruntled old man in Ringgold who threatens neighbors and their pets with his firearm and shot the teenager, throw him in jail with the other tough guy idiots where he can find common ground with his fellow man. There he can live out his days swapping stories of how they threatened others with their guns. We don't need leftovers from the wild west left to roam in todays society. That goes for some in law enforcement too!
