Mr. Pickett doesn't seem responsible enough to be concerned he might be taking some STD back home to the wife, but hopefully hot-pants Pickett is using protection during his wild escapades. Otherwise, the wife might want to get some regular checkups for sexually transmitted diseases if she plans on sticking around.

Stabbed 10 times in the face? That seems more than a simple robbery and more like something personal.

So how does one go about getting charges dropped where the individual who originally brought the charges is allegedly being threatened with arrest herself if she does drop the charges? Isn't this a form of blackmail or coercion? The individual is poor of course, and doesn't have the financial resources as the above mentions.

I agree chattyjill. NC and indian are obviously bloodthirsty. Hopefully, they're not cops with such dastardly thoughts. They don't even realize they're no better and much worse than the alleged criminal element they attack.

Hitler had the same idea as they in his Final Solution.

Mr. Cook, this is a very inspiring and upliftin article. However, this "anonymous" individual you're alleged to have spoken with who stated she couldn't use her name for fear of someone blowing up her apartment, is an obvious exaggeration. Where or when has someone had their apartment blown up in Harriet Tubman or anywhere in Chattanooga except during the periods of segregation? Some groups often use words not fully understanding their power and influence or how they might be judged by them by the general population who are not familiar with that area.

And how does it make you any better than the accused, indian? Your already demanding the death penalty before there's even a trial? Hopefully, you won't on the jury for this trial.

2011, 1911, 1811. What does this being 2011 have to do with anything? I've witnessed more racial hatred, intolerance and bigotry against minorities in the 21ST century than was apparent in mid 20TH century America and prior. It seems all that was accomplished with the election of a black president in the white PEOPLES house are some individuals are using that as a cover to hide their intolerance and racial hatred of others behind.

No, I'm not a minority.

I disagree with all 3 insensitive and derogatory comments. However, I will say the people still don't get it. That's why the approach is all wrong.

One can almost always tell the race of the accused by just the careful way the story is written and usually there's no picture to accompany the story, leaving the interpretation to the reader.

indian, this is not some third world country nor is it Hitler's Germany. As a civilized nation, supposedly, hopefully America doesn't hand out the death penalty simply to make a statement or, as you put it, to set an example.

The disturbing and sad part of your comment is you most likely consider yourself a good Christian.
