Huge crowd attends Best of Preps banquet with Chipper Jones
A sold out crowd of more than 1,500 athletes, parents and coaches attended the annual Best of Preps banquet presented by the Chattanooga Times Free Press on Monday. Former Atlanta Braves all-star Chipper Jones was the featured speaker at the event, which highlights the best athletes and coaches from all 14 high school sports.

W Road work on schedule, should reopen mid-July
Workers continue to stabilize the W Road near the top of Signal Mountain, after the road washed-out in April. The road should reopen in mid-July and the project is currently operating within the $1.3 million approved budget.

Both attendees and vendors enjoyed the music and crowds gathered on Martin Luther King Boulevard for the annual Bessie Smith Strut on Monday. This was the first year that everyone, with or without a Riverbend pin, had to pay to gain entry to the Strut.

Walker County, Ga., recently purchased Mountain Cove Farms and is working to renovate it to draw visitors as a destination vacation location.
