USA Cycling Professional racers ride through Chattanooga
Thousands watched as the USA Cycling Professional Men's and Women's road racers traveled through Chattanooga on Monday. Jade Wilcoxson won the women's race, while veteran Freddie Rodriguez won the men's race. This was the first year for Chattanooga to host the race, which will return in 2014 and 2015.

Hundreds attend opening of Lake Winnie's SoakYa water park
Hundreds of people attended the grand opening of Lake Winnie's newest attraction, SoakYa, a five-acre water park with four large slides, a "Crazy River" and children's play area. Admission to both the "dry" portion of the park and the water park is $31.95.

Motorcycle Trials World Championships in Sequatchie Valley
Thousands of spectators attended the Trials World Championships at the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie Valley on Saturday. The event, which hosts motorcycle riders from throughout the world, including Japan, Great Britain, Spain and the United States, returned to North America for the first time since 2008. Trials riders attempt to guide their motorcycles over difficult terrain, including large rocks, trees and steep hills, without placing their feet on the ground.

Amy Phillips is a rider on Chattanooga’s Hub Endurance Women’s Cycling team that will be competing in this weekend’s Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road & Time Trial National Championships. Amy has only been riding for three years and she will be one of only a handful of local riders.

USA Cycling events kickoff in Chattanooga today
Thousands of spectators are expected for this weekend's cycling events, including the time trials at the Volkswagen plant Saturday and the road race throughout downtown Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain on Monday. The races will showcase some of the best American cyclists in the world, according to USA Cycling president Steve Johnson.

Some 600 soldiers and hundreds of spectators took part in the 149th anniversary of the Battle of Resaca in Resaca, Ga., on Saturday. The event gave attendees the opportunity to connect with history and see a Civil War era camp, as well as a battle re-enactment with rifles, sabers and cannon blasts.
