Johnny D. Houston Jr., who served as Red Bank’s city judge for more than 25 years, has died.
Houston was first appointed as the city’s judge in 2000 and was reelected to three consecutive eight-year terms, most recently in 2022, before stepping down from the bench earlier this year to take medical leave.
He previously served as the president of the Red Bank Chamber of Commerce and also coached youth sports in the area. He could often be found on Red Bank’s pickleball courts in recent years, a press release from the city said.
Houston died Sunday. He was 63, according to his obituary.
