The Chattanooga Police Department is requesting assistance in identifying the perpetrator of an alleged shooting that took place Thursday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting on Browns Ferry Road around 9 p.m. Thursday, where a 16-year-old was found at the scene with non-life threatening gun shot wounds, according to a police department press release.

Based on the police’s preliminary investigation, the suspect shot at the girl from his car while she was exiting Interstate 24 onto Browns Ferry Road.

“The suspect vehicle is described as a mid-size white SUV with a Georgia license plate,” the press release says. The victim was driving a black Silverado truck, according to the release.

Officials ask that anybody who was traveling on Interstate 24 between Rossville Boulevard and Browns Ferry Road between 8:20 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. to contact the Chattanooga Police Department.
