Player: Trey Royal
Royal was the unquestioned leader for McMinn County in his senior season. After playing in the top six as a sophomore when the Cherokees were state finalists, Royal spent the past two seasons playing No. 1 singles and doubles. He finished 13-2 in singles and 11-1 in doubles and finished third in the Champions Club singles tournament. He teamed with Josh Young to win the District 5-AAA and Region 3 doubles titles.
Coach: Susan Ray
In her 22nd season at McMinn County, Ray coached the Cherokees to a 15-1 record, which ended in a Class AAA state-final loss to Brentwood - their second runner-up finish in three seasons. The Cherokees won the District 5 and Region 3 titles after finishing third in the Champions Club tournament. "I was so pleased with the season we had," Ray said. "We set a goal to get to the state tournament, and we made it. We got to the finals, and that was just icing on the cake."
