Q: I've heard you can still use expired coupons? Is this true? Is it ethical?

A: While someone may be able to slip in an expired coupon and have it go through without any problems, the most important part of your question is in regards to ethics. Using expired coupons in most stores is unethical. They have to turn in daily coupon totals with their receipts. Expired coupons will usually go through the scanning process without being detected. However, at the end of the day when they are totaled and discovered, the store will not be reimbursed for accepting expired coupons. Be aware of those expiration dates. While you are waiting in line, take a few seconds and do one final run through of the coupons you are using to specifically look for expiration dates. It will save time and money in the long run.
