UGA's Gray decides to remain a Bulldog

Georgia redshirt junior quarterback Logan Gray announced Wednesday that he will remain with the Bulldogs after contemplating the past few weeks whether to transfer.

Gray met with coach Mark Richt shortly after Richt revealed a depth chart on April 22 that had redshirt freshman Aaron Murray No. 1. Gray was listed No. 2, and there was not a No. 3 following the dismissal of redshirt freshman Zach Mettenberger for his March arrest near Valdosta.

"I want to be a part of this team getting back to the SEC championship game and winning it," Gray said in a statement. "I'm also looking forward to getting some work at receiver and am going to work hard to make the best out of my opportunity at this position as well. I appreciate Coach Richt's patience while I made this decision and his helpful advice.

"Now, I want to put all of this behind me and focus on getting to work on preparations for next season."

Gray is Georgia's only quarterback with experience, having completed 5 of 12 passes last season for 31 yards with two interceptions. There had been talk of Gray moving to receiver this past winter, but the 6-foot-2, 192-pounder from Columbia, Mo., worked at quarterback for all 15 spring workouts.

"He's an outstanding player and a great person as well," Richt said. "We're fortunate to have him, and he'll be an important part of our team over the next two years."

Scholarship for Gloer

Senior cornerback Chad Gloer of Fayetteville, who has been a prominent special-teams player with 19 tackles the past two seasons, has been awarded a scholarship by Richt. Gloer is the third walk-on to receive a scholarship this spring, joining outside linebacker Reuben Faloughi and snapper Ty Frix.
