Police arrest suspect in Dodds Avenue shooting

Chattanooga police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a shooting on Dodds Avenue.

Johnny Barbour is being held at the Hamilton County Jail on one charge of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated kidnapping, according to a police release.

Police arrested Barbour at 2 p.m. today after investigators received tips from several sources that led to him being named a suspect.

Police believe Barbour is the man that Michael Kilgore, 25, and two friends gave a ride from the Fox and Hound Pub and Grille at Hamilton Place Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to the Gas-N-Go at 1706 Dodds Ave.

Kilgore and friends said that when they told Barbour, a stranger to them, that they couldn't give him a ride any further he became enraged and began shooting at them.

The men scattered during the shooting, Kilgore was hit by a bullet in the stomach but treated and released from the hospital within an hour.

No bond information was available for Barbour.
